You may want to change up the interior of your home, but feel like you simply don’t have the budget to do it. If you go out and buy the most expensive, new items then this may be true, but the good news is that you don’t need to; there are some great interior improvements out there that won’t break the bank. And the best thing is, they will still look as glamorous and fashionable as what is trending on the high street. Win-win!
Paint the walls
You may not feel like a DIY whizz, but changing the color of your walls – even by one shade – will totally change the feel of your home. You don’t need to be a professional to do this; just make sure that you protect your floors and fittings before you begin. On top of a brand new look, you’ll be so proud of yourself that you’ll just have to tell everybody who enters your house that you did it.
Paint the furniture
Don’t put the paintbrushes away just yet! You can take some of your old pieces of furniture, or even purchase some new pieces from thrift shops, and paint them different colors to fit in with the look that you’re going for. This is particularly helpful if you want your home to look more modern, but you’re stuck with dark wooden materials. Lighten them up with a lick of white paint, and you’ll have a home straight out of the William Pitt website. Well, you’ll feel that way at least.
Ok, this one may seem like a chore and not something that can brighten up the interior of your home. But trust us on this one, decluttering will make you feel as though you have an entirely new space to work with, and you’ll see what you can really do with your furniture when you go back to basics. Think about what you really need, and go from there. If you haven’t used it this year, and you don’t love it, give it to charity.
Invest in some seasonal items
Something that will keep your home looking like an ever-changing work of art is investing in seasonal items and using these things for a few years in a row. For example, get a beautiful throw for fall and winter, but put it away in favor of some lighter looks in spring and summer. When you change items over, you’ll feel brand new, and you won’t have to splash out every single year. Winner!
So there we have it! Four interior improvements that will really change your home up, but won’t cost you loads of money in the process. And you really don’t have to be great at DIY to do these things, as we promise that they aren’t as difficult as they look. So get some paint at the ready, declutter your spaces so that you can decide what look you really want, and invest in seasonal items that will look great for years to come. In the meantime, decide what you’re going to do with all that extra money in your wallet…
