Things to consider for your farmhouse living room
Before you decide on redoing your living room there are a few things to consider.
- What will work for your family?
- Your living room budget.
- How the room needs to function.
- Will you DIY?
What will work for your family?
If you love how white some rooms are and you’ve got small children, that might not be an option for you or you might need to think of different fabrics that are easy to remove stains from.
Your living room budget.
Some of these rooms cost a ton. Some of the custom built furniture can blow your budget up quickly. Maybe you’ll want to upcycle some items or even make a change slowly to help with your budget.
How the room needs to function.
What do you need for your living room? Do you need toy storage? Do you need space for homework or a computer? These are things to think about when you want to update your living room.
Will you DIY?
Building some of the pieces yourself will save you a ton and you will be getting exactly what you want. DIYing some furniture pieces and even some home decor will also give you the satisfaction of knowing that you can do this.
Now that I’ve given you my two cents about how I go about looking for inspiration, it’s time to share my favorites with you.
Farmhouse living rooms
I love room tours, they are literally my favorite posts on the internet. Seeing what others come up with and how they use different items are really interesting to me.

Living Room Tours
It can be hard to know how to arrange your furniture or find the perfect place for some new home decor that you just picked out. By taking a look at these rooms you might find the inspiration you've been looking for.
I thought I would share how I find my inspiration through room tours because it's not as easy as ideas pop in my head and then I can execute them. It's more like I stare at a blank wall for an hour, hop on Pinterest and Instagram or turn on HGTV to see what Joanna Gaines is up to (because she really has a gift!).
I’m so excited to be sharing our family room tour. This family room makeover has been an ongoing project for, it feels like, forever. I’m done and ready to share the family room makeover before and after photos with you. You can also enjoy the video room tour too!
I went to the Fall Bachman’s Ideas House this morning, and as usual, I left with TONS of inspiration. The theme this year is “Rustic Meets Refined,” which they described as a combination of colors, textures, and natural elements that set a rustic yet sophisticated scene to enjoy a bountiful harvest of seasonal and trending inspirations.

This is the home that inspired The Turquoise Home blog! In February 2012, we closed on this foreclosed builder basic home and started dreaming of how we could DIY our personal stamp on everything. It was a blank slate in an amazing neighborhood and we couldn’t wait to get started creating a space we loved.
Welcome! If you are new here, my name is Rachel. I live in the suburbs of St Louis with my husband and 3 kids in our first home– a 60’s brick ranch that we have been making over– room by room– for the past 2 1/2 years. We still have plenty to do, but I would love to show you around our home decorated for fall!
You guys. It’s finally, officially fall! October is hands down, without a doubt, my all-time favorite month ever ever ever! Can you sense my pure obsession here? I mean obsessed is an understatement. The weather, the trees, the food, pumpkin-flavored everything, the fall bucket lists. I could really write an entire post about this, but it might get really annoying. Or maybe you love it as much as I do? I thought so. What’s not to love! It also just so happens, us bloggers love to invite you into our homes to see how we celebrate and decorate for this lovely season. And today you are getting super lucky because you are getting not one, but twelve (technically thirteen) fall blog tours here! So let me welcome you to Finally Fall Home Tour 2016!
Thanks so much for dropping by our home tour! Get comfortable and grab your coffee. Maybe even a brownie. Or how about a donut? Cake is a good option too. Or if you’re more on the healthy side, you might go for hummus and carrots? Either way, grab a snack and come on in to our cozy modern farmhouse!
A few days ago I posted my summer garden tour. It was full of all the outdoor farmhouse goodness that surrounds my home. Now, its time to take a look inside. Are you ready for a farmhouse summer home tour?
