Cleaning out your kitchen drawers can seem like a daunting task that you want to avoid. Let me show you a quick and easy way to clean kitchen drawers. I’m going to show you 3 steps to cleaning your kitchen drawers.
When you clean your kitchen there are a few things that you might forget to clean or avoid. One of those things is your kitchen cabinets and drawers. Sure, the idea of pulling everything out, cleaning it, and putting everything back seems like a chore that will take hours and hours.
Today I want to show you how I clean and organize my kitchen drawers in 3 simple steps.
Clean Kitchen Drawers
There’s nothing worse than opening up your silverware drawer to find dirt and food inside the silverware organizer. However, this is one of the household chores is overlooked because the time and energy that goes into it.
But think how accomplished you’ll feel as soon as it’s done. It really is as simple as three steps, remove, clean, put away.
Step 1 Remove Items
The first step to cleaning your kitchen drawers is to remove the items from the drawer. I do recommend doing one drawer at a time so you’re not making a mess or getting overwhelmed.
Step 2 Clean Inside the Kitchen Drawers
The next step is to wipe down the drawer, if you have an organizer in the drawer, make sure to wipe that down or clean it with soap and water. Wipe down the drawer front and handle with a damp cloth and all-purpose cleaner.
Optional step: Declutter
Here’s an optional step. If your drawer is overfilled it might be a good idea to declutter while you clean your kitchen drawers. Make sure that the items that are inside this drawer belong there and removed everything else.
The items that don’t belong will either be toss, put in a different spot (where it belongs), or donated. Here’s a related article: Declutter a Kitchen.
Step 3 Put Everything Away
Your final step once your drawer has been cleaned is to put everything away. Place the organizer back into the drawer, then put everything else back that belongs.
How long will this take?
The amount of time really depends on how many drawers you have and the mess you’re starting with. If you tend to keep your drawers organized then cleaning out your drawers shouldn’t take much more than 10 minutes per drawer.
If you are decluttering while you are cleaning it will take longer.
How often should I clean kitchen drawers?
You’ll want to wipe down the drawer fronts at least once a week. It’s best to clean the inside of kitchen drawers about every 3-6 months. You’ll know when it’s time to clean them when you can see food particles in your drawers.
Hopefully by following these 3 steps your kitchen will be cleaner and you’ll be able to find what you’re looking for in your kitchen.
