Fall decor on a budget
I live in the pacific northwest, we have some of the most vibrant falls on the planet. All of the leaves on trees are changing colors so it’s nice to match the colors inside and around my home.
With fall comes the cold and rainy seasons starting. I love the smell of cinnamon and spice to float through my home which helps warm our home.
It doesn’t have to take much to add the colors, smell, and warmth to home so let’s get to my budget decor tips.
Reuse past fall decor!
One of the best ways to save money is by using items you already have. Because vases, mugs, baskets, and blankets can do a lot to a room. You can easily transform any area of your home by pulling a few “fall-inspired” pieces together.
Find items in nature
Nothing screams fall decor like pinecones and leaves. So, take a walk and scavenge items like pinecones, leaves, moss, and other cool fall finds. You’ll be getting some exercise and gathering your fall decor too!
Adding little pumpkins and candles (from years past) to a basket with your nature finds will make a pretty amazing fall placement.
How to find cheap fall decor?
If you’re still in need of fall decor, never fear, there are some amazing places to find fall decor that is inexpensive and will allow you to stick to your budget.
Check out thrift stores
Thrift stores can be a goldmine when it comes to finding cheap fall decor. You can find baskets, bowls, and other fall-inspired decors without spending much money.
The dollar store is one of my favorite places to look for cool fall finds. You can pick up faux leaves, pinecones, pumpkins, small scarecrows, and so much more and you’re only spending a dollar per item.
This will allow you to stick to your budget and decorate for fall easily.
Check the farmers market and other farm stands
You can save a ton by checking out the farmers market and other local farm stands for things like corn stalks, wheat bundles, decorative corn, and pumpkins. Not only are you saving money but you’re supporting your local farmers too!
When should you decorate for fall?
The best time to start decorating for fall is around August. Store start removing the school supplies from the stores and replacing it with fall items. So, get out first and enjoy some great deals and inspiration around that time.
If you’re looking to save the most money then you’ll want to wait until the season starts changing in your area. When the leaves start changing and you see pinecones on the street or sidewalk, start collecting them so you can transform your home.
What are the best things to decorate your home with for fall?
Some of the best items to decorate your home with are things found in nature. So grab a basket and see what you can find out in your neighborhood. My favorite items to decorate my home with for fall are:
- Cinnamon sticks
