Buying room sprays and air fresheners can get expensive and many of them have chemicals that might not be so great to breathe. The great news is making your own DIY room spray is really simple and inexpensive.
During the fall and winter months I rely on my homemade air freshener because I live in a cold and wet area of the country. Opening windows to air out the house isn’t always a great option. Having DIY room spray is my way to keep my home smelling fresh.

Supplies to make DIY Room Spray
To make your own homemade air freshener you’ll need the following supplies:
- Spray bottle – This is the one I use. I did buy the pack so I can have different scents.
- Essential Oils – I have this pack. Below I have a few recipes to try.
- Distilled Water – It’s important to use distilled water so you’re not depositing any minerals when you spray this around the house.
- Unscented witch hazel – The witch hazel will have bind the oil and water together so there’s no separation.
- Dried flowers – optional – This is what I used. You don’t need dried flowers for this project, it’s just a beautiful addition to your DIY room spray bottle.
