When you walk into your home after a really long day, you want it to feel welcoming. You also want it to feel comfortable, and really open. If you know that your home does not feel this way, then there are a few things that you can do to try and turn things around.
Get Rid of Clutter
Eliminating clutter is a fantastic way for you to make your home feel way more comfortable. Having a home with too much stuff really is stressful. If you are finding it hard to get rid of clutter then ask yourself, does it serve a purpose? If not, then consider getting rid of it. You don’t have to throw it away, in fact, you could easily donate it to the local good-will store. Even if you are not moving, try and look around your home and act as if you were. Anything you would not take with you to your new home needs to go. Binning items may be hard, to begin with, but there is a high chance that by next week, you won’t even miss them.
Start at the Front
Now you have zero clutter in your home, it is time to start really transforming your home. You should always start at the front, as this is where you come in. Your door is a sneak peek as to what your home is like inside, so consider having a wreath or even a sign outside your home. It doesn’t take much to do this, but it could really help your home to feel more like your own.
Wild colors can cause you to feel some level of unrest. You should always try and opt for lighter colors if possible. Greys, browns and even whites are all fantastic options and they can really help you to turn your home around. You have to remember that each home has its own personality, and it is up to you to bring this out. Just try not to go too bold when you do, and you really won’t have a problem.
Pictures and Photos
Look around your walls, do they seem barren to you? If so, consider putting some photos up. You might also want to think about having some Amish furniture as well. When you do invest in things like this, you can easily brighten your mood. When choosing photos to put up in your home, don’t just chose ones of the family. Put up some travel photos, or even happy memories that you have. Remember that your home is your personal space and that it’s up to you to really bring out its true personality.
Fresh flowers can go a long way when it comes to making your home feel friendly. You don’t have to invest in expensive ones either. Sometimes a cheap bouquet of flowers is just what you need to get the job done. Shop around and look for the ones that smell the best as well, as this can fill your home with a lovely fragrance.
