These simple tips to keep your home organized all year long can be done by anyone! The best part? You can start implementing them right away!
Wouldn’t it be nice if your home stayed organized throughout the year? For many of us, we start the year on a high note. We take the time to get organized and love the results.
Unfortunately, those results never seem to last. But what if you could do simple things to keep your home organized all year? Wouldn’t that be an amazing feeling…something that you could really hang your hat on? The good news, it’s possible to do! With a few simple tips, you can keep your home organized all year long!
Simple Tips to Keep Your Home Organized All Year
These simple tips are a great starting point to get your home organized even if you’re feeling overwhelmed.
Here are some other projects to keep you organized:
Create a Place for Everything
The most important part of being organized is having a place for everything. This makes it so much easier to stay organized. You also want to make sure the places you choose make sense.
You don’t want to feel like you’re wasting time searching for things that you put “somewhere” to get them out of your mind and sight. Also, make certain your family members know where everything goes as well so that it’s not up to you to keep the home organized.
Put Things Away When You’re Done with Them
As soon as you’re done with something, put it away. Don’t wait until later. Don’t test yourself by just leaving it set out. When you’re done using it, that’s it. Put it away. Plain and simple.
When you wait, things seem to pile up, and before you know it your home is a mess again. The moment that you’re done working on a craft, store the items away until you’re ready to work on it again. When you’re done eating a snack, put the plate in the dishwasher. It only takes a couple of minutes to put things away and it will keep your home organized and clean.
Purge as Needed
If your home starts to feel cluttered, it’s time for a purge session. Don’t wait until things are out of control. If you know the areas of your home most likely to become cluttered, you can even set up a schedule to purge those areas on a regular basis.
Stop Putting Things Off
There are things we never want to deal with but unfortunately…we have to. How often do you bring mail into your home and let it pile up? Stop. Take a couple of minutes needed to sort your mail.
The same goes for laundry. Don’t let clean clothes pile up in the laundry room. Take them to each room and let everyone put their own items away. (You don’t have to do this on your own!)
Make Stations Throughout Your Home
There are several things you can do throughout your home to keep you organized. At your front door, create a mail station that allows you to sort, store, and trash mail. If you have kids, have a backpack station where they can keep everything they need. (you’ll be amazed at how less chaotic your mornings are!)
You may also want to create a command station where the family leaves notes to communicate with one another. Anything that you can implement to stay organized is great. (To-do lists are awesome as well.)
End the Day Organized
Last, but not least, take the time at the end of the day to tidy up your home. Put things away, load and start your dishwasher, and put your feet up knowing that your home is clean to start tomorrow. You will love waking up each morning to an organized home.
You don’t have to let the organization in your home slide. Take the time to do these things so that your home stays organized and your mind stays sane! These simple tips can be implemented right away and will make a huge difference!
