Easy Tips on How To Do Laundry
Learning how to do your laundry correctly doesn’t have to be overly difficult. in fact, these simple tips can make a huge difference!
Separate piles for different fabrics
You should separate your laundry into different piles as per their fabric. For example, a different pile for bed sheets & towels, a different pile for heavy denim & jackets and a different pile for thin/light shirts & pants etc.
Make sure that the laundry having the same fabrics are washed together and are not mixed with the other fabrics. This step can help in choosing the correct wash cycle for your load of laundry.
Separate clothing according to their color
Often people do the mistake of washing clothes with different colors together. This often leads to the dark color of dark clothes bleed into the light/white colored clothes. Thus, for avoiding this and maintaining the real color of your clothes, never feel lazy to do the separation.
You have to make three piles. The first one will be for the white colored clothes, the second one for the light colored clothes and the third one for the dark colored clothes.
Check the pockets before doing laundry
Even if you are in a hurry to wash clothes, never skip the part of checking your clothes. No, it is not only about the money but there can be some important slips or even some metal or other stuff that can cause damage to the machine.

Wash your clothes inside-out
For saving your clothes from fading their colors, you should wash your clothes inside-out. Especially the dark colored clothes like jeans or jackets need to be washed inside-out.
Choose your detergent wisely according to the machine and clothes
There are several choices in the market when it comes to detergent. You can buy detergents based on the type of washer you have or according to the fabrics. You can also choose a liquid fabric softener for keeping your clothes soft. Use bleach only for white clothes to keep them bright.
You should really take your time in choosing the best suitable detergent according to your needs. After all, the search is going to be a one-time search and the benefits will be long-lasting.
Treat the stains before putting the laundry in the machine
You must take care of the stains before washing the clothes. The easiest way to get away from the stain would be to apply a stain remover immediately on the stain for 5 minutes. You can also soak the laundry with stain remover for 30 minutes before washing.
Always use cold water for a better wash
Hot water cleans the dirt more effectively but it fades the colors too. Hence bright clothes always use cold water. Although you can seldom use hot water if the clothes are too dirty.
Different fabrics need different care
For keeping your clothes in the best condition, follow these methods for the different fabrics you own.
Silk
Hand wash but don’t keep it in water for a long time as it is prone to water staining and color loss. The best thing will be to give it for dry cleaning.
Cotton and Linen
Hand wash or machine wash but avoid using hot water as they will shrink or get wrinkles. You must air dry them.
Wool: hand wash in cold water and air dry.
Rayon and Viscose
They should be dry cleaned only.
Washing symbols
While washing a cloth for the first time look at the washing symbols on its tag and always wash it as suggested.
- Plain bucket: Normal wash
- Lines under bucket: Gentle cycle wash

How often should jeans be washed?
Did you know that you don’t have to wash your jeans after every time you wear them? (unless they’re super dirty…that’s different!) As long as you’re keeping them clean while wearing them, you can actually wait and wash them after wearing them 3 times. Of course, like anything, it’s totally your preference.
How often should you wash bed sheets?
A good rule of thumb is to wash your bed sheets at least every 2 weeks. That gets read of the dirt and grime that happens when sweating or sleeping in bed.
