Simple Steps On How To Dust A Computer
Turn Your Computer Off
First things first…It’s always best to turn off your computer. Whether you’re dusting a desktop or laptop, shutting down the machine will prevent any damage when you’re moving the computer around to get to all the areas. Moving a computer around too much while the hard drive is spinning can cause damage. (not only to the computer but to yourself as well!)

Use a Microfiber Cloth
Microfiber cloths are best for dusting the outside of your computer and monitor. You won’t have to worry about scratches on your screen. You’ll be amazed at how much better your laptop or desktop can look after you give it a good wipe down. Plus, those microfiber cloths pick up a ton of dirt! Don’t forget the keyboard, which can be covered in dust and dirt as well. (fingers have a ton of dirt on them that get on the keyboard every time you type!)
Other things to clean in your home:
Break Out the Compressed Air
Compressed air is great for blowing the dirt and crumbs from your keyboard. Follow the instructions to use it properly. The small tip of the compressed air will be able to get down in between the keys so that you remove any deep-down dirt.

Suck Up the Excess Dirt and Dust with a Keyboard Vacuum
You can purchase a small keyboard vacuum to get the dirt out after you’ve loosened it with the compressed air. Usually, the vacuum has a brush that will get down deep. (don’t press too hard though or you’ll damage the keyboard) If you can’t find a keyboard vacuum, you can purchase attachments for your vacuum that will fit as well. You can also use a vacuum attachment to do the back of your computer as well.
Why it’s important to dust your computer
You want to dust your computer regularly. If dust builds up around the fan, and it can’t draw in enough air, your computer will overheat. This can cause damage to the processor which will ultimately end up ruining your computer. Make it part of your cleaning routine to show your computer some love. This will certainly make it last longer and save you money over the long run.
It’s much cheaper and cost-effective to take care of your computer now and clean it rather than buying a new one because of too much dust build-up! Dress up your home office with these design tips.
