Spring may be my favorite season. I know many people say fall is theirs but I love everything that comes with spring. The birds chirping, the sun shining, the garden growing, and all of the plants in bloom.
I was redecorating my dining room table and decided it needed some cherry tree blossoms. Bringing live ones indoors isn’t the best idea I decided to make my own.

How to make paper cherry blossoms
This is one of the simplest projects you can make and it’s very budget-friendly. I’ve put together a video tutorial walking you through the entire process so you can make your own paper cherry blossoms.
The supplies you’ll need to make paper cherry tree blossoms
- Small branches (you can find them outside)
- Pink tissue paper
- Green leaf ribbon
- Hot glue gun
- Hot glue
- Vase
- Paper cutter
- Tape measure
- Pencil
Step 1: Cut out the tissue paper
The first step is to cut out the tissue paper. I used 6 pieces of tissue paper per flower. Stack 6 pieces of tissue paper up and cut into 2.5″x2.5″ squares.
Repeat this process until you have the desired amount of “flowers”.
Step 2: Shape the tissue paper
Now that you have the desired amount of flowers cut out it’s time to shape the tissue. Fold the squares in half diagonally, half again, and then half again. Then cut a moon or half-circle shape at the top. This will remove the square edges making the paper look more like petals.
Step 3: Shape into flowers
Once you have your “petals cut out it’s time to shape them. Take 2 pieces of your cut tissue paper and fold them in half and then half again.
Twist the bottom. This will create the flower look. Continue this process until you have enough flowers created.
Step 4: Prep the branches
Before you attach the flowers to the branches you’ll need to prep the branches. Cut them down to the desired size and shape. Removing any dirt, moss, or leaves that might be on the branches.
Step 5: Attach the flowers
Using a small amount of hot glue attach the flower onto the branches. I used the small buds as a guide to add the flowers.
Go between attaching 1 and 2 flowers to make the branches more realistic. Some buds should be fuller than others. This will make your cherry blossom branches look more life-like.
Step 6: Attach leaves
I used leaf ribbon instead of making leaves out of paper. Cut the leaves and then attach them with a small amount of hot glue.
Enjoy the Paper Cherry Blossoms!
Add your paper cherry blossom branches to a vase and enjoy your spring decor on a table, desk, or any other place you’d like to enjoy your new project.
