How to Store Plastic Food Containers
My big struggle was keeping the lids organized. I store my plastic food containers in a pull out cabinet and the lids would fall into the dark abyss.
I’m able to store my plastic containers without too much trouble so I did focus my energy on the lids. However, I’m going to share some tips with you just in case you’re struggling with storing your plastic food containers.
Step 1: Declutter and pare down
To start off with I went through all of our plastic food containers to make sure they had a base and lid. I tossed any with missing pieces.
I also found storing plastic food containers is easiest when they are similar. If you have a lot of different types (no sizes) it can be more difficult to store.
Since I did end up getting rid of most of my plastic containers I decided to purchase a big set of plastic food containers. This way they’re all about the to store and it ended up being easier to organize. I ended up ordering a 60 piece set.
Step 2: Measure your space
The next step is to measure your space and consider your options. I love products that are expandable. This gives me the option to reuse the organizer if I decide to rearrange my cabinets (which yes, is something I’m known for doing).
I went with the first image but did share a few others that I was considering buying:
The last step is to organize everything. I stored all of the plastic bases together stacked and then added the lids to the lid organizer.
Since it’s been a few weeks since I reorganized all of our plastic containers I think this is working well. They are all staying on the pull out shelf and haven’t fallen into the dark abyss like before.
This project took me about 2 hours because of all of the different plastic containers I had to go through. I’m not reluctant to open the door to our plastic storage container cabinet and I can easily find a match.
