Is there anything worse than trying to live in a bedroom that’s not organized? It may seem like a bizarre thing to be annoyed at, but I can’t stand it when I see people that don’t take the time to organize their bedroom. This should be a sacred place in the home, your special area that’s built for you. What do you do when you want to unwind? You go to the bedroom. Where do you go when you need to relax? You go to the bedroom! It’s hard to create the feeling of peace and serenity when there’s absolutely no organization going on at all.
So, I’m here to help change things once and for all. Not only will I help you be more organized, but I’ll help you take your bedroom organization to the next level. In this guide, you will see some pretty amazing ideas that will definitely de-clutter this room, make it feel more spacious, and provide some much-needed organization.
Swap your bedside table for a set of drawers
Drawers are your best friend if you want to remain neat and tidy. Most people should have at least one large set of drawers where they can store clothes in. This is great, but you can take things to another level by swapping out any bedside tables with a set of drawers on each side. If you shop PlumGoose.com, then you can see a range of drawers in the shelving and storage category that could be ideal for this. Basically, you want a drawer that can also double up as a table by having ample room on the top. Here, you can use it as you were using your table, with the added benefit of at least three drawers below. Multiply that by two if you had another bedside table, and you suddenly have six additional drawers.
Now, you have more room to store things and the potential to be super organized. Thanks to the additional drawer space, you could have enough room to keep specific items of clothing in each drawer. So, socks in one, underwear in another, bras in another, and so on. This helps you stay way more organized and in control as you won’t frantically be digging through loads of different clothes to find what you need.
Section off the inside of your closet
An excellent way to tell how organized you are is by looking in your closet. Your room may seem very clean, but what does this closet of yours look like? If you open it up and clothes are spilling out everywhere, then you’re a bit of a fraud! You’re not really organized, you’ve just chucked everything in there, so it’s hidden from view. So many people do this, and I can see why – it’s an easy shortcut. But, it just makes things harder for you if you need to find certain clothes to put outfits together.
Thankfully, I have a masterful solution to help you with this. All you need to do is section off the inside of your closet. You can buy closet storage systems or little boxes that can be placed inside of an empty closet. By doing this, you now have places to put different items of clothing. It’s similar to the drawer idea, only in your closet. You will find that the closet becomes a lot tidier as well, which can really make you feel relaxed and weirdly proud of yourself. There’s a weight off your shoulders when you open a closet and see that it’s actually not just packed full of clothes all jumbled together!
Use the space under your bed for storage
Everyone has a bed, which means everyone has the potential for some epic storage space. The only people that won’t be able to use this tip are the ones with futon-type beds where there’s nothing underneath. If this is the case, then you’re probably better off getting a new bed as this trick will help you get rid of so much clutter and clear a lot of space in your room.
Essentially, you just use the space under your bed to store things. Now, some beds already come with built-in storage trays that you can roll in and out from underneath. Then, you have beds where the mattress can be lifted up to reveal built-in storage space underneath. If you don’t have either of these features, then don’t worry, you can create your own storage ideas. If you’re a keen DIY lover, then this is the perfect project for you. I’ll link a video to a really cool idea for building your own platform bed with storage, so check that out if you’re keen. Alternatively, you could just build some trays to fit underneath and slide out! If you don’t like DIY, then you can easily buy storage trays to fit your bed as well, so there’s no need to worry. Now, you can keep things under your bed in a neat and tidy manner!
Shelves, shelves, shelves
No doubt you have plenty of space on your walls that’s just being unused. So, why don’t you make use of it by building and fitting some shelves there? This can help you place items that could be clogging up your dressing table or other parts of your bedroom. Plus, it can also be used as storage for things like shoes and other footwear as well.
It’s up to you how you want to use shelves, but I strongly advise to try and fit some corner shelves in the corners of your room. They’re very subtle, but they definitely add to your organization. Another idea is to build some shoe shelves specifically for your massive haul of shoes/sneakers, which will get rid of so much clutter in your bedroom.
If you thought you were organized before, then you’ve taken things to a whole new level now! After doing all of these things, your bedroom will be clutter-free, and you will feel more in control of everything. Those hectic mornings will be a thing of the past as everything is neatly organized and easy for you to find.
