There is little as warming and stunning as watching the sunset across the fields at the back of your home. Or, perhaps you can only see it through the trees. Hearing the birds sing in the morning, and knowing that sometime you’re going to need wildlife removal to help with the odd nest in the garage or possum family living in your basement.
They say that country living, living in the woods or anything similar is good for the soul. But why? What makes it so unique?
Green Therapy
You may or may not have heard this term bandied around a lot. With a big push to make mental health a big focus in the healthcare industry and more widely understood, there has been a lot of research into what else – aside from the drugs and traditional therapy – can help. Turns out getting back to nature is one of the quickest ways to center yourself. Green therapy, as it is called, could be getting out into your local park and walking for ten minutes. But, imagine that view is at your back doors. And any time you need it, you can sit and stare at it for hours. Soaking up the sounds of animals and the peace of the world going by.
Groceries
If you are the type of person or a family that enjoys bulk buying, then the woods is definitely the place for you. You’d likely be pretty far away from the local stores. And getting a parcel delivered is going to cause plenty of stress. However, you’re going to save a lot of money in the long run because you simply won’t be tempted to buy things that spoil quickly, or that can’t be stored well. That, and it will cost so much time to make a weekly trip you’ll be planning smarter meals in no time.
Personal Growth
This might sound strange, but if you are alone a lot, you have a lot of time to work out who you are and what you really like. From chopping wood and building small cabins on your land to learning to cross stitch. It won’t matter what it is you enjoy, you will be able to spend your hours on it. Happiness comes in many forms, of course, but people get a great sense of purpose and joy from their hobbies and you can too.
Introvert or Extrovert
This is where you can really make the space work for you. If you are an introvert, who likes their own space and time, with few (or no) people around. The woods is the perfect place for you to relax and really enjoy your own company. If you are an extrovert, while you might not have company all the time, you are free to invite people ‘up to the woods’ for a few days as often as you can. You can play your music, enjoy a cocktail, and really engage with those people that you enjoy spending time with.
