Adding some luxury touches to your home shouldn’t be hard, and it shouldn’t too expensive either, in the grand scheme of things. And that’s why we’re talking about the little touches you can add to the place you live to make it seem a lot more high class than it is – you deserve to have some grand design around you!
Gild Your Baseboard and Use Crown Molding
If you want the home you live in to look a little fancier, and a little more expensive than it did before, you’ve just got to be savvy about the decoration. Particularly, the colors you use to border your floors and your walls; a can of gold or silver or cream paint can go a long way to adding a touch of luxury to your home. And those paint cans are rather cheap too!
So be sure to gild the base or skirting board that runs around the bottom of your walls, separating them from the floor. They should look clean and tidy at the very least, but if you coat them in an ‘expensive’ color, they’re going to shine away to any guest who visits your house. And then get some crown molding around the tops of the walls, to help them blend with the ceiling; you can even get patterned moulding that looks straight out of a French aristocrat’s home!
Consider a Two Car Garage
Don’t worry, you won’t have to fork out for an entire renovation/extension here! We want luxury touches of the home renovation world, ones that are easy to install in comparison to the bigger works out there – and that means capitalizing on the space in your single car garage. It might just be a storage area, it might actually be somewhere you can park the car to keep it safe from the elements. But either way, it’s a place that could do with a little more space to it, as a big garage is a sign of a big and fancy home.
And that’s why you can have a home car lift easily installed on the floor of your garage. Maybe it’s a single-use area, but you and your partner have two different cars, or maybe it’s not even big enough to get the kids’ bikes in – when you’ve got a lift that can come up and down at the touch of a button, you don’t have to worry about a lack of space anymore.
Layer Your Lighting
Lighting is a huge player in how good a home looks. After all, you could have the most expensive living room in the world and no one would know about it if you didn’t have the lights to complement the look! And that’s why you should think about layering your lighting – it adds a hint of effect with each bulb you plug in, and a hint of intimacy when you can turn the overhead lights off and just use a table lamp.
