Time management for moms tips
Make a To-do list
You might be familiar with the idea of a To-do list. It is a list which includes all your tasks to be done so that you don’t forget anything. Also, you can cut it off the list once the work has been completed.
However, the reason why some moms don’t apply it practically is that they feel it is a time-consuming task. On the contrary, it takes hardly 2 minutes to make a To-do list which saves you from missing anything important and plan your tasks better.
Do one thing at a time
We, as moms feel that we can do way more at once then we should. Multitasking is a myth.
You are obviously not giving the two tasks at hand your full attention but your divided attention which may lead to bad results. Focusing on one task at one time will help you in improving your efficiency with a better result in the given task.
For example, don’t order groceries on call while cooking or chopping. Also, it would be really a torture to think about some pending work at home while you are at your job or vice versa.
Better to fix that thing first and then continue with your work even if it means taking a break from the present task. And if it is not possible at the present moment then don’t waste your time thinking about that.
So for this time management for moms tip is do one thing at a time.
Following a fixed schedule every day
Not all days are the same and hence, it is not possible to work on the same schedule every day. However, you can still plan a fixed schedule for yourself for each day. This will help you to be on time on most of the days when there is not any sudden change.
Putting your daily tasks in order and following them every day, can make your body and mind habitual and comfortable in that order. For example, taking bath, cooking breakfast, getting ready, dropping kids to school and then heading to work. Making a fixed schedule makes it easier to manage time and work.
Scheduling an errand day
With so many work and responsibilities, it can be tough to find some time daily for little chores like running to the grocery store, chemist, electrician or plumber. Thus, scheduling an errand day once a week can help you a lot in saving your time, energy and money.
You can prepare a list throughout the week or just one day before the errand day. After then, you just need to follow your plan. This one day can solve all the problems which you can face in finding time for such chores every day of the week.
Sleep, don’t stress
Our body and mind require proper rest for working efficiently. Hence, to relax your body and mind you need to keep the stress level low. Plan your work and follow your plan is the only thing you need to worry about.
Make sure that you are not setting unrealistic goals or putting yourself under pressure with the schedules and To-do list. These are meant to help you and not pressurize you more.
Take breaks in between for better efficiency
According to a survey of our brains, our brain performs more efficiently when it take breaks between two tasks. Thus, don’t set a continuous line of tasks for yourself.
You should ideally keep a gap of a few minutes or even half an hour between two tasks, depending upon the workload of the task. However, don’t extend the breaks for so long that you skip doing the next task in your list.
