How do you organize your decorations?
The best way to organize your Christmas decorations is to use boxes, containers, and different dividers. Below I’m going to share specific ways to organize and store your holiday decorations. By properly storing your Christmas decor you’ll be protecting your decor and extending the life of your decorations.
Organize by zones
Instead of putting all of your decorations in one spot I like Organizing my Christmas decorations by zones. This allows me to move through my house little by little without making a mess. Here are some zone examples:
- Tree
- Living Room
- Entryway
- Kitchen
- Dining Room
- Front Porch
- Yard
- Gift Wrap
This is how I organize my Christmas decorations. Then I clearly mark the container with the zone which is helpful next year.
Organize Christmas decorations by purging
Before you store your Christmas decor you’ll want to remove items that are broken or you don’t want any longer. Toss all of the broken decor and you can donate the decorations you no longer wish to use.

Label the Christmas decorations

Is it okay to store Christmas decorations in the garage?
Yes! It is important to make sure that your containers are well sealed to help prevent bugs and moisture from entering your containers. Using plastic containers with fitted lids work really well.
Also, make sure you store your containers in areas that won’t get wet from rain or flooding.
