When you’re trying to organize your family, work and keep your home in a fit state the challenge can be real. You often feel that you’re not doing any of it as well as you’d like and that’s even when you share responsibility for it all with your partner.
If you feel that your grip on your home life is slipping, it’s time to take back control with this simple but effective way of keeping your household chores under control without shelling out for a live in housekeeper cost.
Let it be said that this is a technique everyone in the family can get on board with, so make sure you’ve got all your household pulling their weight as we take a look at getting back on top of things in this blog.
Isn’t really a secret at all more an idea that is both practical and takes the stress out of keeping your house clean and tidy.
You probably find that come the weekend everything is a mess and the big weekend clean up begins. For that one day, everything looks great but by Tuesday it’s as if you never went near the place with a vacuum cleaner and there is clutter everywhere.
The secret is to do a little bit every day and get a rolling routine going so there’s never too much to do on any given day. This routine is not just down to you, everyone can be assigned a job to keep the process rolling smoothly.
Between Monday and Friday, pick a room to do each day. On Monday, for example, you might choose your living room. Pick everything up, vacuum, dust and so on, not forgetting things like cleaning windows. Tuesday might be the bathroom and so on until you’ve covered everything. Sure you’ll probably still have to pick up the clutter and wash up but knowing your surfaces are clean and your floor vacuumed means you don’t have to attack the whole lot at the weekend.
On Friday and Saturday you might have a laundry day and tidy the garden but make sure to give yourself Sunday off so you don’t feel overwhelmed and tired out.
This schedule isn’t a hard and fast rule, mix it up a little and change it around but stick to the principle that a few minutes on one task every day is going to feel easier and less wearing than trying to get everything done on Saturday afternoon.
Schedules might seem a little crazy and controlled but if it means that you can go about allocating specific jobs on specific days you’re going to find those jobs get done more and more often and your house is going to look and feel cleaner much more often. Get planning, get allocating and help shift your work/life balance away from feeling overwhelmed and back into the realms of being fully in control of your home, work and family life.
