The sun is out. Spring is starting to make its mark in the world and all I can think about is barbecuing! I’m not quite ready to pull the grill out and clean it so I did a little grilling inside. Grilling these turkey burgers and adding a little brown sugar barbecue sauce hit the spot for me.
No I did not bring my barbecue inside, I used my stove top grill to grill these puppies on. I love how quickly these take to cook! Pairing the burger today with homemade baked beans and broccoli slow, you’ve got yourself a full meal!
Since I didn’t do the grilling outside barbecue sauce was necessary for this burger. I needed that extra smoky flavor that you get from outdoor grilling. I toasted the buns in the oven to add a nice toasty bun. Layered the burger with baby greens and a sliced onion.
Let’s talk about how you can customize this. This meal is easily gluten free by changing the buns to a gluten free bun or you can wrap the burger in bib lettuce and eat it that way. The whole meal is soy free and dairy free. You can substitute the patty for whatever you want, meat free, beef, or chicken it is totally up to you.
The baked beans were so simple to make. While the burgers were grilling I was cooking away. These were one of the simplest recipes for baked beans I have ever made. I was able to pack some extra veggies into the beans to up the health value.
I love, love, love broccoli slaw! I’m not a fan of old fashioned cold slaw. This slaw is fresh and very simple. It is my go to quick I need a veggie in a hurry recipe. It is a combo of broccoli stems, carrots, apple, maple syrup, and apple cider vinegar. A little sweet, bitter, and savory all together in one bite.
Are you having burgers for dinner tonight? I would love to hear your thoughts! Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to read this!
