Taking good care of your house isn’t just about cleaning and DIY, it is also about knowing what type of home maintenance checks need to be made. I’m going to walk you through a home maintenance checklist. I’ve put together a home maintenance checklist printable that will help you further.
Doing routine maintenance checks will really save you money in the long run. If you notice something starting to go bad or break you can get to it before it damages other areas of your home.
To make this possible it’s important to break those maintenance checks down. It’s wise for a few reasons, it’ll get done and won’t take you a long time.
I’ve broken the home maintenance checklist by month so you can add it to your calendar and know to take a look at those areas of your home.

Look at Your Roof
Your roof can quickly fall into disrepair but you should be able to see the warning signs from the ground below. Check for lost tiles or broken areas you can see. You should do this once a year as a minimum, but you should also have a look after stormy weather. If you do see a problem, you could visit Dennis and Sons Roofing for new roof resources to get everything you need.
Seasonal Home Maintenance Checks
Many people do one deep cleaning a year but I like to do them seasonally. While I’m doing my seasonally cleaning there are a few other things I check in the home.
- Check your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms
- Replace your HVAC filters and vent filters
