Oh planning how I love thee, let me count the ways…Ahhh
No, I’m kidding well, maybe a little. I am not sure if it is love or more of an obsession. Regardless maybe some of my planning love can rub off on you by the end of this post, if you’re not already a lover. If you are, I would LOVE to hear what you love about planning.
I really think planning is important for all aspects of your life. Planning comes into play when you have people over, go to the grocery store, start a garden, or even clean the house. It allows you to really attack the task head on. Now I’m not saying you need to spend an afternoon planning every mundane task you need to complete. It can be just a simple to do list to make the task just a little easier. Here are my 5 reasons why you should plan.
Grocery Shopping & Meal Planning
This will help keep you on a budget. If you are wanting to eat healthier then you’ll definitely want to start doing this. This doesn’t have to be extravagant either a simple piece of paper on the fridge with your weekly menu and another simple piece of paper of your grocery list is all you need.
For me, I have a white board on the fridge with the week and I fill it out the day before I go to the grocery store. I also have another white board where the family can write down what they want from the store or if they’ve used the last of something they write it down for replacement.
If you want to learn more about meal planning, I created a step by step tutorial about meal planning, and how to put a system in place that will last. You can click the link below to check that out.
For me, this is a must these schedules keep me on track. If I don’t have a checklist, I feel lost. Have you ever found yourself checking the laundry and then for some reason you end up reorganizing the garage? Yep, that’s me and that’s why I have a list.
For the most part, my home stays clean. I do like to do a nice clean each day so my weekly deep cleaning doesn’t overwhelm me. I have a daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly cleaning checklist.
There are some things that don’t need to be done each week like cleaning under the fridge. Also, there are things that need to only be done quarterly like replacing the filter in the furnace. This keeps me from forgetting things that need to be done.
I go into more detail in a blog post about the 10 step to create an organized home. If that is something that you are struggling with, then click the link below to read more about that.
Daily To Do List
I like to plan out my day the day before. I can reflect on what I got done and then what needs to be done. This allows me to wake refreshed and ready to tackle the day. If you follow me on Instagram, Twitter, and/or Facebook I post me to do list each evening before I unplug for the day.
Since to do lists are so important I created to different posts about them!
In the post below I show you how to create a scheduling day. By implementing this 1 thing, I was able to save my self about 2 hours a week. You can learn exactly how to set this up and what all is included below!
If you struggle to get items crossed off your list, then you will want to read this post. I will show you how I am able to zero out my to do list every single day be using 1 tool. This is not to brag, this is to show you that anyone can triple their productivity if they’re using the right tools.

Planning A Party
It doesn’t matter what type of party or gathering you’re planning, you need to plan for it. You need to have your invite list, theme, food, budget, and so much more. Having people over can really overwhelm some people so have a plan of attack can really go a long way for a successful party or gathering.
I have party planners put together for different types of parties I throw. There are holiday parties, birthday parties, old fashioned BBQ’s, and that fun just to have a party, party. The planners aren’t extravagant just something to keep me centered and focused.
I’ve never gone on a vacation without a plan. There is so much to do for planning a vacation. Where are you going? What do you want to do? How much can you spend? There is so much to plan to make a vacation come together. There can be so much planning and stress before hand. That’s why I like to have a plan in place.
